The thaw begins not in the soil,
but in the quiet ache of limbs stretching,
in breath that steams against morning frost,
in blood that stirs like sap beneath the bark.

We are bramble tip and violet leaf,
unfolding despite the cold,
drinking light through closed eyes,
and remembering the green within.

Let us walk barefoot on softening earth,
feed the soil with our gratitude,
and rise again, tender but rooted,
as the worms, as the wild, as ourselves.
